Cracking pole, very strong and stiff for a carp pole. I have this as a back up to my superium X70

Fantastic pole- now in 2024 it's nearly 12-15 yrs old. the build is better than the new Maver stuff, much lighter and the action is un real- fish local and commercial every week -no issues. Bought three just for spares -Ebay £350 all day long. It's that good Maver don't stock spares as they want you buy the new stuff.-Ok unfair they stock the 7 back but ya have no chance on 4,5 possibly 6 section. If you enjoy your pole fishing and know your stuff this is Mint for the money xx

Good older pole, I rate 7/10... chap who said he's seen loads break, what a crock of s#it, he's not even owned 1 either!!! there solid and well made, can't go wrong if you find 1 under £500 in 2024 nice and light to 14.5m, but starts to drop (most do),not the stiffest @16m same as any other pole around £1-2000, poles only break in the wrong hands people and seems to be the same people who break them by mishandling. 3 rollers at distance is a must.

People who say " The section just snapped as I was shipping back" or "It snapped whilst plumbing up" what bollox. It's a great pole, stiff, strong, and very well balanced. I've had some good poles, and this is as good as some top end poles costing twice as much.

Had this pole for about 12 months now. I have used it to bag up on silvers with the match kit and have had mid double figure carp on it no problems. It is a bit heavy at its full length. However i tend to only fish the top 6 sections and find it easy to handle. I have 9 different top kits to cope with 95% of situations. Now the price has been lowered with the release of the V2 model, this makes an excellent all rounder pole for the pleasure angler. Have tried other poles in the same price bracket, but nothing comes close.

I have the 12.5m version and find it decent, use it mostly on rivers and canals for decent roach and bream but have caught carp up to 6lb which it handled well. Not the lightest pole at full length but unless you double or triple your budget you’re not going to get much better

Brilliant bit of kit, although it is classed as a competition pole it has enough strength to deal with large fish on short lengths of elastic. Gets a bit unwieldy at 16m but at up to 14.5 m it is a great pole for the price. Biggest carp on it so far is 18lb and not once did it feel undergunned.

Bought a 999 XS Maver pole last October 2022, took it out for the first time and before the float had hit the water snap the No13 section broke clean in half. some MONTHS later it was returned by Maver. Four weeks later I went to our lake and got a small 1lb - 2lb carp bringing the pole in the No 6 section snapt clean in half. The wall on the pole was as thin as tissue paper. I send the pole back and said that it was not fit for purpose and said please do not return it to me as I have no faith in this pole. it's to heavey to cary it's own weight. STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY.

I wouldn't go near the Superium X70, very fragile and weak, I got mine the start of the season, unless you can get down to the top 2 as soon as the fish is hooked be very careful of any sideways movement on anything above 4lb,I've been fishing 40 years and this is the first pole I've had which has snapped in the middle of sections 3 and 5, and getting the spares is ridiculously slow, there is better and stronger poles out there, I wish I had gone for something else, I'll not go near Preston poles again

Not the prettiest pole I’ve seen, but it’s sure got the answers when the margins light up. I’ve landed some reasonably big fish with it, and my confidence is growing every time I use it. My main pole is worth a lot of money, so I’d rather risk the little un down the edges. Might get the 8m to go with my 6m. Well done Middy.

Bought this pole 4 years ago, wanted a decent carp pole that wouldn't break the bank. The package I got with it was 3 top 2's,cupping kit 3 roller side kits, ptf long bushes and 2 skid bungs all I needed to get was elastic.Use it nearly everytime I go on carp waters no probs using it all day at 13m had carp to 18lb on it, also great for silvers 16's to 18's elastic for big carp 4's to 6's elastic for silver fish. And also spares are cheap eg top 2 kit £35 and readerly available well done Drennan.

Played about with one a few weeks ago and honestly for the pole is fine to 13m but at 14m things start to get heavy and unbalanced,a part from that its a strong pole and usable at longer lengths just a bit bouncy and heavy, but good insurance if you hook a whopper and need to follow the fish out \
